Happy birthday?
Moon landing, yo.
The launch date of Apollo 11, to clarify.
Why do I feel like we stopped for a cold one on our great journey and we’re still in the bar instead of a-journeying.
Dammit, I should be able to go to the moon on the evening shuttle tomorrow.
Instead, we have to get a ride from the freaking Russians to get to near Earth orbit.
Veesh;
Can you come up with a good reason why we should be paying massive amounts of money to send a select few men into orbit? What benefit are we netting from that?
If you want to talk about the future of space travel and saving the species once Earth is used up, I doubt very much that sending 6 men into low earth orbit is the goal we need to aspire to, especially at untold billions per man sent.
Give it to private enterprise and let them figure out a way to make money off of space. Then, and ONLY then, will you see the big advancements. Until then, no amount of government money burning is going to result in any great acheivements any time soon. We could give them trillions and we’d just get the space shuttle. Oh, wait, we already did…
My guess is that the advancements in inter-planetary travel won’t come until some mining company figures out how to put a meteor into orbit and mine it for whatever… Then we’ll get our trips to the moon for cheap. hell, your new mining company employer will probably pay for your trip.
Can you come up with a good reason why we should be paying massive amounts of money to send a select few men into orbit?
When I tell you it’s a good idea to send a select few men into orbit for $billions then, I’ll give you a good reason for it.
Until then, how about we talk about what I wrote?
Dammit, I should be able to go to the moon on the evening shuttle tomorrow.
My comment was that it was 1969 when they landed on the moon and 43 years later I still can’t go.
Also, we have no Moon, Mars or Alpha Centauri colonies. That pisses me off too.
