Gay men, lesbians and bisexuals who self-identified to exit pollsters made up 3 percent of those casting ballots in House races on Tuesday, and 31 percent of them voted Republican. By itself, that number is amazing, especially when you consider that way too many people think being gay and voting Democratic are one in the same. But that percentage is ominous news for a White House viewed with suspicion by many gay men and lesbians, because that’s four percentage points higher than the change election of 2008.

Again, hmmm…..

In light of these stats, I guess Ann Coulter looks pretty smart for sticking up for GOProud, and that guy (I forget his name) who got heckled off the stage at CPAC looks more and more like a stupid asshole.

  2. Things that do make you go Hmmm…

Question is, did they vote Republican because they were Republicans, or because they wanted to punish the Democrats?

  3. alexthechick says:

Dude, DPud and I were talking about this very thing last night. My guess is that between those are center right, right wing and libertarian, it’s probably pushing 40% of the queer community. There’s so much pressure to stay in the closet (pun intended) about that though since you’re facing total social ostracism to admit to being a homocon.

    I love it.

  5. doubleplusundead says:

I think the GOP’d do much better if they’d chill with the FMA shit and chill with sloppy demagoguery, I bet those numbers would hold or even improve.

  6. Hermit Dave says:

One would think the gay community would have a naturally libertarian bent. The ones who drive me nuts are the nanny-state homosexuals. It makes no sense to me that one can demand alternate-lifestyle acceptance while still being in favor of things like smoking bans, happy mean bans, etc. Either you’re for freedom or you’re not.

I would at least expect liberal homosexuals to be classically liberal, rather than leftist. I know intelligent queers (like atc) completely get this, and think this is why more are leaning GOP. The Dems have moved so far to the left that they’re starting to come back around from the right. If, as dpud says, the GOP would chill with the FMA shit, there’s every reason to believe that the ‘homocon’ trend would continue.
