Tipping points and whatnot

I’ve been pondering wtf is wrong with Wisconsin and the more I think about it, the more I think that the fake physician’s excuses may be a tipping point in the war the public sector unions have declared on the taxpayer. Why? Because that’s a very concrete example of the fraud that goes on. Pretty much everyone has had to deal with the annoyance of having to get a physician’s excuse of a kid or for themselves. People know what it’s like to have to have to give an absence slip to your employer like your some little kid. People understand what a pain it is dealing with a puking kid and staying home from work or finding someone to take care of your kid and dealing with the doctor’s office so that you and your child don’t end up on the truancy list. Now here comes a group of teachers who are blatantly lying about being sick, acting like enormous spoiled brats, being thugs and committing fraud with the medical excuse slips that would get you or I fired. Yeah, that’s going to piss people off. A lot.

The “Messaging” seems to be a little off here:

    A) “Run away and hide” isn’t exactly a Profile in Courage, much less a good idea when the Governor you hate can go on teevee every day and say “We’re broke.”

    2) “We’re such valuable public servants that we can fuck off from work and inconvenience your family until we get what we want–good luck finding a babysitter on short notice while YOU have to show up for work” doesn’t strike me as something that will garner much sympathy.

#) This is Wisconsin, so what the fuck do I know?
