Trump stands as warning GOPers need to grow a fucking pair

Matt Lewis has this exactly right, the biggest reason Trump can talk about making a serious run without being laughed out of the room is because he’s the only one getting really aggro against Obama.  Yeah, Trump is doing it stupidly with this Birther shit, but he’s obnoxious and irreverent to the political establishment, and that’s gonna carry you far in any given election right now, even if you’re a crap candidate (see O’Donnell, Christine).  And the GOP leadership better not think that people won’t cast kamikaze votes if  the GOP nominates a weak candidate.

Again, this is what happens when you have closet liberals and spineless cowards running the GOP, and this shady fucking deal Boehner put together is a prime fucking example of why the GOP is held in such low regard by grassroots conservatives, and unfortunately why Trump has to be recognized as a serious force right now.

And for the record, I’m absolutely against Trump as a candidate, I’m just noting this is what fucking happens when the GOP leadership becomes what it has become.

Also, talking about Trump getting into slapfights with people made me think of this from JoeCartoon…remember JoeCartoon?  Hamsterdance anyone?  How ’bout BadgerBadgerBadger?

I think the strong aggression by Trump will be tired by the time the election rolls around.

That said, if the national GOP doesn’t look at what happened in the Colorado gubernatorial election as a warning signal we’ll be looking at Obama’s second term.

(and it’s quite possible they’ll ignore it – there were too many squirrelly things that happened during that election cycle that will let them deny that the GOP was at fault in losing that election instead of looking at why a strong candidate wasn’t supported in the first place)

That said, if Trump doesn’t start going against Obama’s actual POLICIES there’s no way he should have any real support.

Trump is an asshole but at least he’s a conservative asshole. And look around at the other choices: Newt and Huckleberry and Romney?! These clowns are already in the Face Cock Hall of Fame. May as well run McCain/Dole in 2012.

If nothing else, the debates would be interesting. Even better, imagine if Trump won the election — imagine him telling Barry: ‘You’re Fired!’

(Semi OT, what else is new: Charlie Brooker’s Screenwipe had a parody of The Apprentice, a show called ‘You’re Fucked’, that’s worth tracking down and watching.)

Ogre, I just don’t trust Trump, whether he says he’s conservative or not, dude has far too long a history of supporting Democrats, I understand he’s had to donate a lot to Dems to grease the wheels to get his ventures through the red tape, but I just don’t trust him, which may be unfair.

I think the strong aggression by Trump will be tired by the time the election rolls around.

    Entirely possible.

Who is least untrustworthy? Newt’s a sleaze, Huckleberry’s an idiot, Romney is unspeakably bland and not really conservative. Who the hell we got who’s electable and conservative?

This is like picking teams in high school, where you get down to the point where you say ‘coach, do we have to pick someone?’

The only dim glimmer of hope I see is usually the front runner fades as the race gets hot. Anyone’s better than the empty suit but I am not in the mood to get McCained again.

  5. Sockless Joe says:

If he’s going to go down like the Hindenburg anyway, Trump could actually make himself useful if he tried to make a dent in Obama’s personal favorability rating, which is pretty much the only thing keeping his Presidency afloat at this point.

Not sure how you do that, but it’s bound to backfire a bit on the candidates who try it. (Thus, my attraction to having Trump be the bad guy.) Maybe investigate the socialism connections, where there might actually be a “there” there. (“Alice Palmer”, anybody?)

If Trump’s gonna blow a bunch of money looking for a document, how about some of Obama’s college papers?
