Damn Tea Party Minority Taking Over The Country

First up, we have a Gallup poll that’s music to my eye.

The money shot

  • 82% of Americans disapprove of the way Congress is handling its job.
  • 69% say they have little or no confidence in the legislative branch of government, an all-time high and up from 63% in 2010.
  • 57% have little or no confidence in the federal government to solve domestic problems, exceeding the previous high of 53% recorded in 2010 and well exceeding the 43% who have little or no confidence in the government to solve international problems.
  • 53% have little or no confidence in the men and women who seek or hold elected office.
  • Americans believe, on average, that the federal government wastes 51 cents of every tax dollar, similar to a year ago, but up significantly from 46 cents a decade ago and from an average 43 cents three decades ago.
  • 49% of Americans believe the federal government has become so large and powerful that it poses an immediate threat to the rights and freedoms of ordinary citizens. In 2003, less than a third (30%) believed this.

How Beautiful is that? The only fly in the ointment is that only about 50% think the current gov’t is a threat to our freedom. I’d like to see that around 75%, which would be unanimous as 25% is never going to admit they agree, they want it. Freedom scares them.

Then we see this Rassmussen poll

new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just 17% of Likely U.S. Voters think the federal government today has the consent of the governed.  Sixty-nine percent (69%) believe the government does not have that consent. Fourteen percent (14%) are undecided.

That’s all about the Win!

Teh Peepul are starting to figure out we have a bunch of elitist assholes who think the people are revolting and wish we would just shut and do as we’re told.

That makes my “100% turnover in every elective office” plan look less like pie in the sky and more like pie on my plate.

Mmmm pie.

The Puppy Blender seems to blame it on Obama, but I’d say it’s across the board. Watching the “debt ceiling” kabuki was eye-opening, especially as it was  just more of the same old same old where our political class argues over how much they’re going to screw us with nobody but Crazy, Unhelpful people trying to get “Hey, how about you don’t screw us?” into the debate.

I’m not saying Obama and his Chicago-Machine politics isn’t a big factor, but politics has gotten ridiculous. When talking heads on TV talk about how “smart” a pol flip-flopping.…err.. repositioning is based not on whether it’s the right option but whether it looks good to the hoi polloi.

You know who this doesn’t help? Mitt Romney. And that’s why when people leave the Perry bandwagon they’re going to Newt or Cain or even Chris Christie (who’s basically a fat Benito Giuliani who’s worse on guns and immigration).

Fuck the establishment. They’ve shown their ineptitude is only surpassed by their arrogance.

    This.

  2. I heard Christie is out, so that’s another piece of good news.

Also, “music to my eye” is as delish as my “don’t look at me in that tone of voice”.

And third, I don’t put much faith in polls. I do put faith in human nature, so that’s what I’ll be watching.
