I didn’t think the government ever ran out of money to destroy things

There’s so much fail here, I don’t know where to start. For $800K, I would have gladly fixed all their computers, guaranteed.

[The Economic Development Administration, who, incidentally, have an ugly-assed website]’s CIO, fearing that the agency was under attack from a nation-state, insisted instead on a policy of physical destruction. The EDA destroyed not only (uninfected) desktop computers but also printers, cameras, keyboards, and even mice. The destruction only stopped—sparing $3 million of equipment—because the agency had run out of money to pay for destroying the hardware.

As best I can figure, this is the EDA’s broken windows attempt at fixing the economy.

Aren’t you supposed to use bio-warfare to get rid of mice with viruses? I can’t remember…feed a cold, starve a fever…the CDC should know, unless they were shut down by the sequestration or tea-partiers.

I think a hammer would work in either case.

      • DejahThoris says:

Yes, but can you guarantee that the virus infection would be gone? What if someone were to take the mouse or camera home? How would we keep it from infecting our cell phones and garage doors!

We should probably bring in FEMA to declare martial law, in order to allow the CDC to control the epidemic.

You just KNOW someone is war-gaming this scenario.
