So some cops no-knocked this guy and he killed a cop.
Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not happy the cop was killed, but I am happy about the outcome.
A grand jury decided there wasn’t enough evidence for him to stand trial on the capital murder charge.
McGee admitted to shooting Sowders before sunrise on December 19th while the deputy and other investigators were serving a no knock search warrant for drugs at McGee’s mobile home near Snook.
Magee’s Defense Attorney Dick DeGuerin says his client thought someone was breaking into his home and fired to protect his pregnant girlfriend and himself.
The only people they should no-knock are people they can explicitly say are better off dead (in the warrant) or who have shown a proclivity to open fire on police and again, this should be explicitly written out in the warrant.
The judge ordering the warrant should make it explicit that the person is a danger and write out why.
And “why” cannot be because he owns guns, it has to be because he’s a violent, vicious savage who’s better off dead.
Of course, the DA is going to keep trying to get this guy, he was arrested for having pot plants and a “deadly weapon” and this, from what they call “the previous story” at the bottom of that link.
Sowders said he thought giving Magee notice would be, quote, “dangerous, futile, or would inhibit the effective investigation.
Get it? Dangerous, futile or it would inhibit the investigation. Two of those things are not like the other.
Now if it was “dangerous”, that’s one thing, but since it was probably the last one, no, no, no.
What the hell happened to ‘Better 10 guilty men go free than 1 innocent man go to jail’ huh?
I’ll tell you what, it’s become, ‘Better 10 men go to jail than one man go free’.

In this day and age when even the education department has armed SWAT teams, no-knock
entries are becoming more common. In time, this will be the response for overdue library
books. This is what you get when you militarize civilian law enforcement.
It’s a scourge and as anti-American as you can get short of quartering troops in my home.
I am not anti-police, but all of my sympathy is with the victims of these assaults, the invadees and their pets.
