Northwestern University football players can unionize.
The National Labor Relations Board in Chicago has ruled that football players at Northwestern University are employees and can unionize,
What The Fucking Fuck?
No, seriously. What The Everloving Fucking Fuck?
Words fail me.
H/T ESPN after the Mets/Nats game which is the only reason it was on.
Reblogged this on U.S. Constitutional Free Press.
Unintended consequences will be the death of this. All that scholarship money? Supposed to be non-taxable. Want to bet that changes now that they are “employees”? And the ones not in a right to work state will be FORCED to pay union membership fees.
I am grinning and rubbing my hands together on this. As stupid as it is, like Obamacare, those it “benefits” will end up worse off for it.
Yup, that’s going to be hilarious.
It’s going to get even funnier as more schools join in before the unintended consequences kick in.
College students are not really taught critical thinking so they’ll be freaking out about how it’s ‘fair’ and good and shit.
Everybody’s boned in that.
I do love the idea of unions getting in on all those $millions of TV revenue and schools suddenly finding that their football teams are not bringing in as much to them anymore.
They’re appealing the ruling but if it stands, we’ll see paid athletes in college ranks fairly soon afterward.
Then, schools will either have to stop their athletics or start charging much more for admission so students won’t be able to afford to go see their teams play and/or they’ll have to start getting corporate sponsors.
Forget stupidities like the Tostitos Bowl, we’ll see South Carolina sponsored by KFC, the Duck Dynasty guys sponsoring Oregon and I really can’t wait until USC gets their new sponsor.
Then, Title IX kicks in and the hilarity becomes too ironically stupid to bear.
Sometimes the endy is just too freaking hilarious to believe it’s for real.
If the Northwestern football team went on strike, would anybody notice?
Hahahahahahahahahahahaahhaha.
Okay, that’s funny.
What if the safeties go on strike but the rest of the team doesn’t? Would the corners or LBs who play safety be scabs?
