The “pull” of potential amnesty has been discussed at length. What I’d like to see more discussion of is how the Obama administration’s failures in Central America are partly responsible for pushing people out of their native countries.
“A country-by-country survey of the Obama administration’s actions in the Northern Triangle shows how the administration has sown instability in Central America by siding with former guerrillas who have ties to drug trafficking.”
When pre-pubescent kids are being murdered for their unwillingness to join Mara Salvatrucha, a Mad Max Thunderdome would sound like a welcome relief.
Let’s not forget that one of the Obama administration’s (and Clinton State Department’s) first foreign policy failures was siding with a Chavez-ista in the 2009 Honduran crisis.
Unfortunately, I don’t think even many conservative outlets will report this even though it is a more comprehensive critique of Obama due to the fact that it would suck oxygen away from amnesty related ratings-whoring.
