I can see bunch of tweakers outside freaking out and just spinning around in circles as they try to decide if they should go in and get their meth checked.

Every now and then I hear people at my agency threatening to quit, over everything from inadequately prestigious offices to the outcome of elections (most of them, interestingly, are lawyers). Ain’t never happened.
Although, who knows? Trump seems to be punching such large holes in the membrane of establishment politics he might actually create another dimension in which gov’t workers do resign in the thousands (or – a much more entertaining vision – a black hole that sucks federales into a vortex of involuntary unemployment, from which no particle of smug entitlement can escape).
I worked on a relentlessly leftist* floor and dept. in the USPTO. None of them even pretended they would quit if/when Reichsfuhrer Bush was reelected.
Many of them were lawyers. Every now and then one would quit to make double to triple the pay. Almost every one came back in about 6 months. Apparently law offices expected them to work for that extra pay.
*There were a few righties, rightly hated, and some who were smart enough to keep their mouths shut. One of the few people I was friendly with was an avowed socialist. Seriously.
Other areas were engineer-dominated but I went to business methods. It was a mistake.
See, I’ve been following all these reports from the Gatestone Instute and others about Germany and it doesn’t match what I know. My son lives and works right there near the central Munich train station, and my wife visited him for several weeks during the “refugee crisis” last year, and she speaks fluent German and lived there through the 70s. They both went right through Germany on a train, and drove to Italy and bus to Czechia, and the only obvious refugees she saw were in Kiel queuing up for the ferry to Sweden. There were processing tents around Munich station where they must have whisked away. She was told, by a Turk, not to go to a swimming pool north of the city, near the shooting, because there were Muslim men who might assault women. But overall its much safer in Munich than Sydney Australia where we live.
German polizei aren’t badass, they’re “efficient”: systematic and relentless like the whole German society. This makes German culture able to withstand this. After 1990 there were huge problems, comparable to this, too much to detail here. The real criticism is that Germany can cope but other countries these “refugees” trek through on the way to Germany can’t cope. Sweden and Norway seem to be crazy. I got that from watching Ingmar Bergman films already (why so gloomy in the land of Abba?). Sweden may want to commit suicide.
I tell my son about reports here and in US media and he just thinks we’re crazy. He likes it there a lot.
My wife spoke to her old friends in Germany (schoolteachers) and told them what is happening with Muslims in Australia, and they said exactly same thing is happening in Germany: streets and suburbs around mosques being ethnically cleansed, forced marriage, honour killing – that’s in Sydney. But this isn’t associated with recent refugees, this has been happening both in Sydney and Germany for decades. I believe it was driven by Saudi oil wealth since the 80s.
My wife says the Turks in Germany are actually pretty good. It’s not them causing the problems, it’s the Pakistanis and others.
And people usually don’t know that parts of North Africa Maghreb weren’t just colonies but part of “Metropolitan France” which meant free travel from there to Paris or even to Cologne before the borders changed. German police admit a big “North African” crime problem: that includes lots coming across the French border. They say Paris is full of nasty arrogant North Africans who’ve been there for generations. Not to say that the refugees don’t make it worse, but a lot of the reports in English seem to miss the point that this goes back decades. Then again there are Muslims who are ok, like the Bosnians (thousands of these in Germany now), and I think the Turks are crazy nationalists but not Islamists.
I’m more worried about NATO.
I wouldn’t worry about NATO, they’ll be okay as they won’t get involved in any wars protecting other countries. They can’t even protect themselves.

Oh, my worry is that we are putting pressure on Russia for no good reason. I mean NATO should be dissolved, it’s too much like ganging up, and Russia always had an inferiority complex from the Tsar days. Now the Brits and (Obama) are arming the Russian border again. Like a pressure cooker.
My wife came to Australia in 1979 because of the Cold War crisis at that time, she was lucky she had choices of places to go. Australia was begging for self-reliant young women in the 70s.
I had Estonian friends in the 70s, lovely people, also a Lithuanian school teacher. And I like the Poles, Czechs best of all. But, guys, this can’t go on. They’re all Scando-Slavs, Varangians and Slavs. they can sort this out. And Europe will be stronger. Haven’t the Brits learnt to stay out of EU affairs yet?
My wife says young women travel alone at midnite on German trains. Sounds like feminists, “We have won the right”. Then they have the “right” to walk through a crowd of jostling men. Typical German rules obsession. My son went to MontMartre Paris in 2012 and could see a swarm of jostling Africans on the staircase, picking pockets while forcing tourists to push through. And like lemmings the tourists entered the swarm.
My son avoids such swarms anywhere. 50 guys having a rumble at the train station is Friday nite in my outer Sydney town, he grew up with this. Swarms of pickpockets come from both France and Romania all across Europe, there is nothing new here. Been going on a 1000 years.
The real problem is we have little idea what is actually happening. I’ll bet you all think Australia is ok, but we have street riots between aborigines and pacific islanders and kinds of stuff. Nothing much is new.
