Trump wrong on vetting refugees

Defending his stalled immigration ban, Trump said “there was no way to vet those people. There was no documentation. There was nothing.”

(Politifact sez) Trump has said this before. It’s False. A refugee vetting system does exist and has existed since 1980.

Trump was talking about vetting people from places like Iran, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Somalia, Sudan and Libya. and the other places he travelly banned, how do you vet people who come from some place with no central gov’t? How do you vet people when you cannot trust the gov’t to be truthful? Iran, Yemen, Sudan, Libya and Syria would love to ship terrorists here. How have we been doing ‘vetting’ folks from Somalia?

A municipal authority in Manitoba, Canada is concerned about the influx of dozens of “asylum seekers” who showed up to border town of Emerson Sunday morning.

“I’m scared, the bigger the numbers — if we don’t have enough officials, someone is going to slip through the crack because there’s so many people to process,” Reeve Greg Janzen, a municipal authority, told CBC News.
