Really, this is ridiculous.

. And even if he could, the conditions would have to be clearly related to the funds at issue and not coercive…

So that’s the state of American jurisprudence?

Huh. Why they’re not related at all! Why, it looks as if this judge just doesn’t like what the law says so he’s saying it’s something else entirely!

Which leads me to an idea. DC wants to be a state, I’m agin that, but states don’t have to be contiguous (I haven’t checked the Constitution, but at this point, what difference does it make?), so we make 3 new states.

DC into MD, NYC, with NY state up to, and including, Dutchess County, and Lawn Guyland and Philly are one state.

Chicago, St. Louis and..I don’t know, maybe Indianapolis are another.

L.A., Sacramento and San Fran are the third.

Sure, lefties would get 6 more senators, but NY, Ill and CA would have seriously good chances of not voting Dem. In NY it wouldn’t make much difference, but eventually some conservatives might break the slimy, corrup, GOP’s stranglehold on state politics. So the Dems would lose 6 senators. That’s a wash.

The House would stay the same just with different names, but Winner Take All primaries would mean the Dems would not get upstate NY and the rest of CA and probably Illinois. MD outside the Chevy Chase area is fairly conservative, not sure how much that would change MD, but it couldn’t hurt.

Seems like a good idea to me.
