The White House said on Monday that coalition forces fighting Islamic State militants in Syria retained the right to self-defense as Russia warned it viewed any planes flying in its area of operations as potential targets…

Russia, a staunch ally of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, said it would treat U.S.-led coalition aircraft flying west of the Euphrates River in Syria as potential targets and track them with missile systems and military aircraft. It stopped short of saying it would shoot them down.

The Russian Defence Ministry said it was also immediately scrapping a Syrian air safety agreement with Washington designed to avoid collisions and dangerous incidents.

and every time I flip to TV news I see something about Trump. Yesterday CNN went on for a little while about Flynn for fuck’s sake.

So what else are they ignoring as they focus on GETTING TRUMP!!!!!!!?

Unmasking Scandal: On Monday, Judicial Watch announced that it hit a dead end in its effort to dig out information about why White House advisor Susan Rice ordered an “unmasking” of Trump campaign officials in classified reports. In response to Judicial Watch’s April 4 request for materials related to these unmasking requests — to determine whether they were politically motivated — the National Security Council said it had sent all those records to Obama’s presidential library, where they can’t be released for five years…

Loretta Lynch Scandal: Despite blanket coverage of James Comey’s testimony about his firing by Trump, few noted the bombshell Comey dropped about Obama’s attorney general, Loretta Lynch, who, Comey said, pressured him to downplay the significance of the FBI’s investigation into Hillary Clinton’s reckless handling of classified emails on her private server. Comey said Lynch told him to call it a “matter,” not an investigation.

There’s more. You see, our fine media betters can’t have people getting the wrong idea. They need to understand that Trump is a fascist. If they ever find out how Obama and the rest of the Dem party acted and acts they might think the Democrats are the real fascists!?!?!?! We can’t have that!

 

 

Via Paco, we see something I really didn’t want to know.

Arizona Republican Sen. John McCain in 2012 turned over nearly $9 million in unspent funds from his failed 2008 presidential campaign to a new foundation bearing his name, the McCain Institute for International Leadership.

The institute is intended to serve as a “legacy” for McCain and “is dedicated to advancing human rights, dignity, democracy and freedom.” It is a tax-exempt non-profit foundation with assets valued at $8.1 million and associated with Arizona State University…

Critics worry that the institute’s donors and McCain’s personal leadership in the organization’s exclusive “Sedona Forum” bear an uncanny resemblance to the glitzy Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) that annually co-mingled special interests and powerful political players in alleged pay-to-play schemes.

The institute has accepted contributions of as much as $100,000 from billionaire liberal activist-funder George Soros and from Teneo, a for-profit company co-founded by Doug Band, former President Bill Clinton’s “bag man.” Teneo has long helped enrich Clinton through lucrative speaking and business deals.

In addition, the institute has taken at least $100,000 from a Moroccan state-run company tied to repeated charges of worker abuse…also accepted at least $100,000 from the Pivotal Foundation, which was created by Francis Najafi … has in the last three years given $205,000 to the National Iranian-American Council (NIAC), which has been a vocal advocate for the Iranian nuclear deal the Obama administration negotiated.

 

Which deal McCain supposedly opposed. Jeffrey Immelt is on the board. You know, the ‘Republican’ head of GE who was such good friends with Obama.

The worst part? That I believe.

The term “no-go zone” famously caught on in some international media back in 2015 after it was used by a Swedish newspaper columnist to label these areas, but it has been strongly rejected by police and emergency services themselves.

The police definition describe these districts as socio-economically vulnerable areas with a generally high crime rate. In an especially vulnerable area there are also often parallel societal structures, religious extremism and police regularly have to adapt their methods to the volatile situation. (Ed. This usually means running away) Residents also often do not report crimes, either out of fear of retaliation or because they think it will not lead to anything.

Now reality.

Approached for comment, Stockholm area regional police chief Ulf Johansson said he was not “fully up to date” with details regarding the station’s closure, but told SVT “the premises in Kista left a lot to be desired when it comes to the work environment”.

In March, plans to replace Rinkeby’s police station, which closed in 2014, were put on hold because construction companies feared for the safety of their workforce in the majority migrant suburb, which is notorious for gang and gun crime.

Other Republican lawmakers are proposing nationwide reciprocity bills for all permit holders. Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) is introducing such legislation this week. Reciprocity would make life simpler for permit holders who travel.

This we’ve been watching happen for a long time. I’d say people who have California in the We’re Totally Boned pool still have hope, but those with Illinois have to be feeling hopeful.

With just 10 days to go until Illinois enters its third year without a budget, resulting in the state’s imminent downgrade to junk status and potentially culminating in a default for the state whose unpaid bills now surpass $15 billion, Democratic Illinois Comptroller Susana Mendoza issued a warning to Illinois Gov. Rauner and other elected officials on Tuesday, saying in a letter that her office has “very serious concerns” it may no longer be able to guarantee “timely and predictable payments” for some core services.

As we saw a few years ago when they gave out IOUs for lottery winners, they’re still having problem paying out on the most profitable ‘gambling’ deal there is.

Illinois is grappling with a full-fledged financial crisis and not even the lottery is safe – with Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner warning the state is entering “banana republic” territory.

You know how bookies go broke? They get a big hit they weren’t expecting, the lottery doesn’t have that problem as the payout goes up with pay-in, not odds.

The other ways they go broke are if their protection money is really high or the boss’ son comes in and takes the receipts.

In Illinois, they have both of those problems.

Settled Science! seems a lot more unsettled than I would expect.

Indeed, only last week the Spectator published an article by one such Pause Denier – a scientist from the University of East Anglia (ground zero of the Climategate scandal), fondly known as the University of Easy Access, named Phil Williamson.

It is titled The Great Myth of the Global Warming Pause and it claims, somewhat imaginatively:

The Paris agreement will be the future, whereas the so-called global-warming hiatus is already history.

And let’s not forget that in the dog days of the Obama administration, alarmist scientists were so desperate to pooh pooh the “Pause” in the run up to the Paris climate talks that they concocted a junk science paper – now the subject of a federal investigation – which used dodgy data to try to airbrush the Pause out of history.

But wait! There’s Still More!!!!!!!!

A scientific consensus has emerged among top mainstream climate scientists that “skeptics” or “lukewarmers” were not long ago derided for suggesting — there was a nearly two-decade long “hiatus” in global warming that climate models failed to accurately predict or replicate.A new paper, led by climate scientist Benjamin Santer, adds to the ever-expanding volume of “hiatus” literature embracing popular arguments advanced by skeptics, and even uses satellite temperature datasets to show reduced atmospheric warming.

More importantly, the paper discusses the failure of climate models to predict or replicate the “slowdown” in early 21st century global temperatures, which was another oft-derided skeptic observation.

You have to love this

“In the early twenty-first century, satellite-derived tropospheric warming trends were generally smaller than trends estimated from a large multi-model ensemble,” reads the abstract of Santer’s paper, which was published Monday.

Can you study the climate and still notice reality? I didn’t think that was allowed.

What’s interesting, though, is Santer and his co-authors say their paper is “unlikely to reconcile the divergent schools of thought regarding the causes of differences between modeled and observed warming rates.”

Translation: This ain’t gonna change shit.

Not that I expected it to, I just like watching lefties notice reality before disappearing or learning not to go against the Consensus.
