So a question.

Would the country be better off with a non-establishment or even just a non-insane POTUS or would we be better off, ultimately, if the race boiled down to Huckabee (Christian socialist) V Bernie Sanders (Marxist Socialist)?

Now that’s a poser, as I do not see a President Walker, Paul or Cruz being able to push back against the establishment pricks in both parties, while President Bush, Clinton or even Graham (tee-hee) would be pushing Forward! comrade.

In other words, even after having Obama let it burn, does America need an even stronger lesson?

You have to admit, the campaign would be hilarious as the media viciously attacks Huckabee for wanting to do the same things, just for a different reasons, as they hide the fact that Sanders self-identifies as a Socialist.

I truly feel this election will be even funnier than 2008 so I have to say, a Sanders V Huckabee race would be about as funny as it gets.

Oh well, just means I get to torture Veeshir with more 80s music for a while longer.  You know, events like this require some reflection on the important things in life, fundamental questions, like whether you like The Bangles, the Go-Go’s or Bananarama best.

Honestly, it’s tough to pick one as a favorite.

So I’m watching live TV, which I pretty much never do but there’s no TiVo where I’m staying. Anyway, I’m confused by the political ads – am I supposed to hate Romney because he wants to overturn Roe v. Wade and get rid of Planned Parenthood, or am I supposed to hate him because he used to be pro-choice?  And why are we still being told to vote with our ladyparts?  Either a woman is too young to have enough sense to vote against Obama, or she’s too old and dried up to care about voting with her ladyparts.  (I’m firmly in the latter camp, so don’t go getting any ideas.)

Without the Recovery Act, millions more would have fallen into poverty. Our efforts to expand unemployment insurance provided $167 billion in benefits to 17 million Americans. It’s the longest-lasting emergency unemployment program in American history. The Recovery Act provided incentives for states to expand UI coverage to part-time workers and new workers. This kept 3.2 million Americans from falling into poverty last year.

Um, it’s nice and all that the people who are getting unemployment checks aren’t starving out in the streets, but don’t you see any teensy little problems with bragging about the fact that you’ve actually had to implement “the longest-lasting emergency unemployment program in American history” while simultaneously talking about how awesome the Spendulus was? Like, I don’t know, that it might be an indication that the stuff you guys are doing hasn’t done jack shit to improve the economy? That a whole lot of people collecting unemployment indefinitely shouldn’t really be something to be happy about? Bueller?

I’m really not sure why I’m asking any of these questions since Solis begins her post by gushing about (and I’m not kidding here) LBJ’s “War on Poverty” programs. Yeah.

I wasn’t watching Zero’s speech, as I had actual productive things to do, but Teh Hubby was (no comment on what that means about his to-do list…) and he said that it was an all-hands sort of thing.  Gabe said he’s sure someone wasn’t there – but the question is, which minor bureaucrat could have been the next POTUS?

Oh wait, Vinty was nice enough to hunt down the answer for me, since I just realized I haven’t adjusted my Fantasy Football lineups and that’s more important than the words coming out of Teh Won’s mouth.  Arne Duncan would have been the lucky winner. Oh heavens.  In a race between Duncan and Zero, I’d be hard pressed to pick who’s worse…
