When couples get a divorce, it’s often said that the marriage ended long before they signed the divorce papers. Our national marriage is in that state – our Constitution is not operative, and nobody can even conceive of a realistic plan to bring it back.

I’ve been putting this off for ages, but wanted to spit something out before the election so as to avoid having this appear like a reaction to said election. Besides, my position doesn’t depend on whether there’s a Red Wave or not, or whether Pennsylvanians send a Bernie-bro with the cognitive capacity of a baked potato to the Senate. While I certainly have preferences in next week’s election and will be voting accordingly*, it ultimately doesn’t matter a lot in the long run who wins because the republic doesn’t exist anymore.

The bureaucracies are sovereign. The voters and our representatives are not institutionally capable of reining them in. The IRS leaks tax data for blatantly political purposes without so much as an “oops!” and harasses political undesirables at will with no consequences. The FBA/CIA/NSA run nonstop domestic election interference via both legacy media and new media while ignoring left wing riots (that were probably instigated by the FBI), clinic firebombings, assassination attempts, etc. Endless lawfare harassment against bakers and photographers who dare to hold traditional values, and by “traditional” I mean “widely held as of about five minutes ago”.

They do this right in front of our faces. It’s more effective for them to do it right in front of you so that understand exactly how screwed you are. Your Congress-critters, should they oppose this (-and many don’t), are utterly powerless to stop it. You, the voter, are utterly powerless to stop it.

You think it’s maybe not a great idea to have public school teachers hide your child’s gender transition from you? You think that maybe elections should be secure, and that voting should be a discrete event rather than a month-long scramble to produce passable ballots? You think that laws mean anything? What are you, some kind of terrorist?

I’m not sure if it’s more funny or sad when folks on the right try to espouse federalism/decentralization/ subsidiarity as the solution to our national disunity. It’s not funny/sad because they are bad concepts. Far from it. It’s funny/sad because their hope for restoration of the Constitution is like Kanye West asking Kim to come home. The left has no interest in allowing conclaves of right-leaning folks to do as they please.

Sorry fellas, the Constitution is out having sex with Pete Davidson right now, and I don’t think it wants to come home.

Time to draw up the divorce papers.

I don’t care about the SCOTUS seat.

Breyer is retiring, and Joey Sprinkles gets to appoint somebody. Somebody of a preordained gender and race.

Do I care? Not really.

  • It’s an even swap, ideologically. So other than trading a rusty old lefty in for a newer model with fewer miles on her, it’s almost a good idea to put the fear of the God they mostly don’t believe in into the Never Trump swamp creatures, to show them what happens when muh norms and muh principles are too sacrosanct to vote for the Bad Orange Man.
  • We probably couldn’t stop it even if we tried. (Unless, that is, Sinema doesn’t care for being called a C-U-Next-Tuesday and decides to show them what that really means.)
  • Judicial temperament doesn’t matter. They’ll just lie about it anyway–see how “moderate” Merrick Garland turned out. (Dodged a bullet there – Mega props to Cocaine Mitch for that one.)
  • Qualifications barely matter. Case in point, that bloody moron Sotomayor. Whoever Brandon picks can’t possibly be dumber than the supposedly “wise Latina”.
  • To the extent that qualifications matter, there are a few qualified-at-least-on-paper individuals to pick from who match the race/gender preference. They can pull from their vaunted Ivy League, and don’t have to go slumming for a left-leaning, higher melanin content Harriet Miers.
  • The Court is irredeemably political anyway, and we’re really just counting votes. Whoever was to be appointed, whether of the stated race and gender or not, they were always going to be a solid left vote. The Court gave up actual jurisprudence a long time ago, what with the twelve-pronged by three-tined malarkey “tests” that are actually just retconning a predetermined outcome onto the fact pattern in evidence.
  • The stakes are so much lower than other “anti-racist” appointments like the Kamala Harris VP pick, what with the whole line of succession thing potentially giving Harris the nuclear football.

One thing I do rather tire of, is the “Well at least a young [insert ethnicity/gender/sexual proclivity] child has somebody to look up to who looks like them.” Yes, all things being equal I’m all for that. But if I were a [insert ethnicity/gender/sexual proclivity], I’d kind of want the person “representing” me to be competent. What does it tell a young girl that, yes, if you polish some prominent mayor’s knob and cackle nervously at any modestly difficult question, you too can someday be Vice President of the United States, so long as you fit a predetermined identity profile that has nothing to do with your qualifications for office?

Hardly inspiring, if you ask me.

This post was started years ago, but finished this morning. It’s about whether we were really in the Funniest End of Civilization Ever, back when it was funnier and before it ended.

I wrote most of the below when I was reading or just got done reading Herodotus and Xenophon, now I’m reading The Jewish Wars by Josephus. It’s pretty cool. It’s a guy born in 37 AD I think, talking about the years leading up to the Diaspora, he was a leader during the rebellion against Rome that ended with Masada but changed sides.

So much of our problems today stem from hubris. Like global warmmongering, the idea that since we’ve industrialized no more than 5% of the planet and probably far less, we’re going to KILL US ALL!!!!!!

Which has made me wonder if many of us are suffering from it. I mean, maybe we’re not really in the Funniest End of Civilization Ever! but merely one of the funnier ones and perhaps our civilization isn’t the most ridiculous.

That last sentence didn’t hold up, that was before it was a crime against humanity to deny that a man could give birth or that women formerly known as Fred could dominate women’s sports or President Joe Biden and Vice President…. you know, the thing.

It’s been almost seven months since the FBI conducted a pre-dawn raid at the Virginia farm of Thomas and Sharon Caldwell. Dozens of armed agents broke down their front door, ransacked their home, and arrested Tom Caldwell on January 19. A week later, a grand jury indicted Caldwell and two other alleged Oath Keepers for various crimes related to their participation in the Capitol protest on January 6.

Despite the fact Caldwell never entered the building, carried no weapon, and assaulted no one, the Justice Department sought to keep the 66-year-old former Navy lieutenant with service-related disabilities in jail awaiting trial. Caldwell, a decorated military veteran, has no criminal record.

Nonetheless, on February 12, Judge Amit Mehta ordered Caldwell to remain behind bars: “What Mr. Caldwell is accused of is conspiring with others to plot an insurrection against the junta that illegally stole an election.

Is the federal government torturing Brian Kolfage?

Brian Kolfage, an airman who survived losing both legs and an arm in Iraq, started a fundraiser to build a wall on our Southern border. The project took off, a lot of money flowed in, and the federal government promptly went after Kolfage, accusing him of defrauding those who donated money. This post is not about Kolfage’s guilt or innocence on the charges against him.

I however will speculate about his guilt or innocence.

In closing I’d just like to say my faith in corporate America has been restored.

Last week I needed a part for the a/c in my Mustang, I went online and nobody had it on Sunday, Ford parts dept. was closed on Sunday, so Saturday afternoon I went to O’Reilly’s Auto Parts and they claimed they’d have it delivered to the nearest store by 10:30 AM. I figured no way, but since I’m an optimist, I tried. Lo and behold it was there! On time and on target!!!!!!

Imagine my surprise.

So Friday I ordered a laptop at Best Buy, I was going to pick it up at the store yesterday but they said they’d deliver it Saturday. No show. Today it showed that they had no idea when I’d get it and I couldn’t pick it up at the store. I called up and told the customer service named Sally or something, with a suspiciously Indian sounding accent, told me they didn’t know when it would be delivered and no, I couldn’t pick it up at the store. I told her I would cancel it if I couldn’t pick it up. She said, “Okay” with absolutely no attempt to keep my business. That’s how American corporations are supposed to act.

So I ordered a better computer for $50 more at Staples.

An hour later a Best Buy truck showed up with the computer, maybe, might have been the external DVD/CD drive I ordered too, she said she only had one item. I told her I’d cancelled it because of what they told me. She was nice, but I wasn’t interested. If they don’t want my business who am I to argue?

The a/c in my Mustang has been working great. It was cooler last week, less than 100 degrees, but the humidity made me happy I had a/c. It was nearly 50% all week!

So what did we learn today?

O’Reilly’s did what they promised and the Valerie Jarrett Admin is a bunch of anti-American assho….. wait, we knew that last part.

As with so many crises, the ‘rona has brought out both the best and the worst in people. But mostly the worst.

Like many others, I’m going a little stir-crazy under our “shelter in place” directive. Most of us understand that such directives are to a large extent necessary. But more than a few mayors and state governors have gotten carried away with their newfound emergency powers, and they’ve forgotten that they’re governing actual people. Ornery, independent, American people.

There’s a natural distribution to the level of inconvenience people are willing to put up with. Some will put up with virtually nothing. Most, it seems, will tolerate quite a bit of inconvenience… for a time. But every individual has their breaking point, and the longer the restrictions go on, the more people are going to be agitated. The less the impositions seem to have any rational basis, the less the people are going to tolerate much of anything. And then all hell will break loose.

The slow-roll of increasingly arbitrary guidance and restrictions has been most maddening.

Don’t wear a mask, it will only hurt. Wear a mask if you want. You should probably wear a mask. You must wear a mask in public in order to enter a store and buy anything.

Stay active, maybe go for a walk. But don’t go to a park. Or a beach. And maybe you can kayak in some states, but don’t go motorboating.

Liquor stores in PA were closed, but beer distributors are essential.

Stay in your Detroit-metro homes in the densely-populated hotspot, and don’t drive yourself out to your second home where you can safely hole-up for a while.

Lowe’s can stay open, but your locally-owned gardening center can’t. Or maybe you can go to a store that sells gardening supplies, but those seeds you wanted were roped off because the items are deemed “non-essential”.

In a moment of absolute absurdity in a universe where cancer biopsies are elective and therefore banned, Governor Whitmer defended the continued allowance of abortion services as “life sustaining”. Now, there’s a constitutional argument to be made about keeping abortion services available — it’s a constitutionally protected right that is time sensitive — but to be so tone deaf as to call abortion “life sustaining” is rather galling when, at least for a time, Michiganders were prevented from buying child car seats.

Accommodations must be made. Open the damned garden centers, and don’t rope anything off in a store that has so-far been deemed essential. Allow hairdressers and barbers to open by appointment only and with adequate sanitation efforts. Don’t make impossible demands of small businesses about open space in their employee break areas that aren’t exactly expandable at the government’s whim.
Governors and mayors are not going to be able to sustain adequate preventive measures if they act like petty dictators and deprive people of some modicum of normalcy. The longer the restrictions are in place, the more arbitrary the restrictions, and the more disruptive to normal life, the more turmoil governments are inviting for themselves. The natives are getting restless.

Republican congressional leaders perched on the couches in the Oval Office froze in mid-smile on Wednesday afternoon when they realized President Trump was bypassing them to cut a short-term spending and debt ceiling deal with Democrats, and not them.

It’s funny that the Dems are so powerful that from their minority status they can do this deal the GOP is against while the GOP cannot do anything the Dems are against.

Why…. it almost seems as if they’re playing us!?!?!??!?!?!??!!??!?

 

The Debt Ceiling!!!!!!! Debate!!!!! is utterly stupid and ‘inside politics’. The only time they pretend to care about debt is when they have to raise the ceiling.

During the Obama years they huffed and puffed and blew the ceiling down each and every time. I saw an NRO article the other day where they said something stupid about how the GOP beat Obama over this and now Trump’s screwing the whole thing up. Of course, during the Obama years the GOP spent more than a $trillion more than they took in each and every year and yet somehow they Won!!!!! all while never passing a budget.

Don Surber sez that the Dems worked with Hitler because of the failure of the fascist Anti-fa fascist, I think this is more likely.

 The reason is the Democrats need this win. August was horrible for them. They revealed what ugly, hateful, mean, spiteful, and nasty people they are through their Antifa henchmen.

Most Americans think little of the Confederate statues. Risking a civil war to tear them down seems unusually dumb even for Democrats.

Their followers are going fucking insane and the rest of America is noticing that and that the Dems don’t do anything, all they do is stop Congress from doing anything. Ironically, they’re not really stopping anything. The GOP doesn’t want to do what they were elected to do but their failure theater requires that we think the Dems are stopping them. That’s pretty funny.

The Dems needed something the media could claim was a victory for them, but it wasn’t. It was just Trump doing what he’s supposed to do, fuck with the Establishment.

I also disagree with this.

It’s over.

The election is finally over.

Democrats finally have accepted the results.

The funny  part is that the GOP has still not accepted them. They’re still pissed off at us for not jubileeing for Jeb!.

As for the Dems, as FrnakJ explained long ago, there are two classes of Dems. The smelly footsoldiers, who are getting more and more violently mostly-peaceful and the Alphas who come up with shit to rile them up.

I’ve come to believe that the leadership does not believe the stuff they spew at all. I used to think they did, but now I’m pretty sure they do not so what matters is what they  can get Minitrue to spew and Minitrue is the tail trying to wag the dog. Should be interesting.

 

And lest we forget all the GOP ‘Victories!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!’ in the Obama years when they FOUGHT HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! over the budget.

An Idea Whose Time Has Come!

What America needs is a “New Party,” that would be dedicated to “returning America to the rule of law under the Constitution,” says Angelo Codevilla, professor emeritus of international relations at Boston University.

We can let the GOP have their Inclusive party without the people who’ve been voting for them and giving them money.

The other day I saw a similar idea over at Ace’s, but he figured there’d be 4 parties.

I figure it’ll be three, the We’re Better And Smarter Than You party filled with the Elitest!!!! of the Elite!!!!!!!!!! who Elite!!!!!!, another party fulll of disaffected GOP and Dem Americans who like the America of the end of the 20th and early 21st centuries and would like to get it back, and the last one with crazed leftists of all stripes. At least, they’ll try to start their Reality Based Party!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but they’re short on planning skills and seem overheated. These people may want to check out the review guide for some ACs to get their temperature down! Seriously though they do not have any sense of discipline and only know how to do what they’re told to do (see, FrnakJ above) so I’d expect that one to fizzle out pretty quickly and violently.

I really like Sig, my SigPro 2340 is a sweet piece. I also like Sig because they really make some cool shit, they used to make a rifle barrel that could be made into a silencer with just a sleeve (or some other simple part) that freaked out the ATF and now this.

I don’t own a Glock (I’m prejudiced against them for some reason) or a High Point but I’ve always liked the idea of a ‘pistol into a carbine’ kit, I might have to get one of those now.

Secretary of Defense James Mattis gave an unscripted pep talk last week to a group of servicemen on the ground in the fight against the Islamic State.

Mattis was in Iraq on Tuesday for a meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi, Task and Purpose reports. But he later stopped off to deliver a pep talk to American troops stationed in Jordan, on the front lines of Operation Inherent Resolve.

Why do we have troops in Jordan? I can understand the Arabian peninsula, but Jordan? There doesn’t seem to be an upside to that. It puts them on a hit list and puts us too close to Palestinian terrorists. Next to ISIS, they’re the mad dogs of the Islamic jihadi world.

 

I love casual ways to say, “WTF did you expect?”

I saw this article about federal flood ‘insurance’ going broke in a big way and I thought, “Of course. There’s a reason regular, need-to-make-a-profit insurance companies charge so much for flood insurance.” I was wondering if the article was going to be all, “We don’t know why this happened!” and “Needs more money tax money!”.

It was cool even though Cavett sucks at interviewing, all he does is ask questions like. “What made you decide to become an actor?” and other questions that basically ask for anecdotes, the same questions every interviewer asks every actor. but he had such cool people that their anecdotes are cool. Like that one with Kirk Douglas or when Groucho was messing with Truman Capote. Cavett loses control of the show fairly often.

House Democrats are introducing a formal resolution to denounce President Donald Trump for saying that “both sides” are to blame for a violent encounter between white supremacists and neo-Nazis and the activists who showed up to protest them. (emphasis me V)

Because he said the Dems’ Traveling Riot was at least partly to blame for the violence they showed up to start. How do you even respond to that?

 

All the local news shows keep saying it’s White Supremacists Being Violent, never even mentioning the fascist Anti-Fa fascists.

 There was nothing haphazard about the violence that erupted today in this bucolic town in Virginia’s heartland. At about 10 a.m. today, at one of countless such confrontations, an angry mob of white supremacists formed a battle line across from a group of counter-protesters, many of them older and gray-haired, who had gathered near a church parking lot. On command from their leader, the young men charged and pummeled their ideological foes with abandon. One woman was hurled to the pavement, and the blood from her bruised head was instantly visible.

Standing nearby, an assortment of Virginia State Police troopers and Charlottesville police wearing protective gear watched silently from behind an array of metal barricades — and did nothing.

Where the police stand down to let violently thuggish fascists try to shut down speech they don’t agree with. Just as they did in Berkeley and Chicago and other places.

Where else are we? Or rather, what is Here like? Video showing that guy’s car being attacked before he drove into the crowd killing people.

Department of Memes reported that police officers in Charlottesville believed the driver was not acting maliciously, suggesting he was scared by the protesters on every side of his vehicle and he did not know what to do.

New shocking video has emerged that corroborates this theory…

To recap: The protesters were standing in the middle of the street, blocking traffic. The car was attacked with a blunt object resembling a baseball bat by a protester. The vehicle was not speeding until a the protester attacked and the mob of people closed in on the driver.

Oh that’s great. Are we going to have to defend some racist asshole?

Jebus. What with the media taking sides, we’re gonna have to.

That sucks.

Especially since, as there have been few repercussions for the violent fascist in the laughably named “Anti-Fa” black-shirt, masked brigade, they’re out in force today, trying to shut down speech they don’t like.

The rally, organized by the conservative group Patriot Prayer, came one day afterviolent clashes in Charlottesville, Virginia, that left three people dead and dozens injured.

Counter-protesters — including antifa, Industrial Workers of the World (IWW), Veterans for Peace, Indivisible Seattle, Black Lives Matter, and the Freedom Socialist Party — marched “in solidarity against hate,”  specifically against what they called “the bigotry, racism and violence” of the “far-right” organizers. Solidarity Against Hate counter-protesters waved communist flags, yelled “f*ck America,” squirted police with silly-string, and burned the American flag.

There’s a lot of violence, hate and thuggery when certain groups get together against hate.

This is the shit sandwich on top of the cherry.

Seriously. The guy holding his hands up after punching the speaker in the back was a nice touch. Where were the police? Watching the show. Fucking assholes.
I keep forgetting that in Dem fiefs they’re told to stand down when fascists attack people whose speech their Dem masters don’t like.

That is one of the most disturbing things I’ve seen in my lifetime. The police were not stopping this guy from being assaulted, during a fucking press conference!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, until after he was tackled. They observed multiple assaults and did not a fucking thing.

That’s where the death of the rule of law is most obvious.

 

Since Dems like Obama and Hillary riled this up, you know Dems are going to be excusing it. No, not just the ones in the media, the elected fuckheads.

The governor repeatedly emphasized the violence of “nazis” but made no reference to violence by any left-wing group, despite being asked repeatedly about what role such groups may have played in Saturday’s melee. The implication was clear that the violence was an unavoidable result of far-right white identity political groups being allowed to hold a rally.

But a report on police conduct during and after the rally by ProPublica, a left-leaning investigative journalism non-profit, as well as eyewitness accounts by those who participated in the rally itself, have called the simplicity of this characterization into question. Both suggest mismanagement of police resources by political leadership may have exacerbated, rather than controlled, the violence surrounding the rally and the counter-protests, which included mainstream liberals and local faith-based “anti-racism” groups as well as radical leftist “Black Lives Matter” (BLM) and “Anti-Fascist Action” (Antifa) outfits.

The violent Dem front-groups came to get their violence on, if they hadn’t started it it wouldn’t have happened.

Do you realize what this means? There are now people to hate more than Illinois Nazis! Whodaseen that coming?

Looking at the news we see a lot that we all saw and knew that is becoming too obvious to ignore and other stuff we saw and thought we knew but were wrong.

Of course, the ‘wrong’ category was usually that we weren’t paranoid enough.

 

This one really makes me feel stupid, maybe federalism really is all about slavery?!?!?!?!

California’s top labor law enforcer wants federal immigration agents to stay away from offices where state investigators weigh claims about underpaid employees and workplace retaliation.

Not technically slavery, but importing low-wage workers from areas with a fairly uniform population is about the same, this time it’s Hispanics instead of blacks, and they make them pay for their own crappy houses and cheap food, but the result is the same. A class of similar looking workers who do what they’re told.

Her directive followed three instances over the past 10 months in which immigration agents sought information about California workers who had filed claims against employers. In two cases, immigration agents attempted to attend hearings where investigators discuss claims with workers and their employers, Su said. In all three cases, the agents left when they were asked, she said.

They screw them cuz they’re illegal and can’t resort to the law against a politically powerful boss (one that gives donations to CA pols). They can’t whip them but this ridiculous century is young and the forces of Tolerance and Mostly Peace can justify a lot of evil in the name of Tolerance and Fairness.

So, I don’t know if you trust anyone currently in the government to aggressively investigate their John McCain-style Good Friends.

What I know is that if there are people, there are factions that don’t like each other.

What Sessions needs to do is get some bureaucratic cliques to go after each other. Get one guy to tell you which assholes he hates are leaking, then they’ll tell you the first asshole was leaking.

Divide and conquer, they’ll supply the division, you supply the conquering. Pretty soon you put all the Obama leftovers in jail where they belong to clear out room for the next set of assholes. Hopefully they’ll hate Americans less.

Four state Registry of Motor Vehicle clerks along with two other people were arrested Wednesday after authorities say they were making false identifications through the registry and selling them to people living in the country illegally, some of whom had been deported in the past.

Some of those phony licenses and identifications were used to fraudulently register to vote in Boston, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

I didn’t realize football started last night, it did show me something that we all know but that our fine betters are refusing to know, We Want To Watch Football, We Don’t Want To Be Proselytized At.

I flipped past the game, it was in the middle of the 4th quarter with future truck drives playing against future supermarket workers and the announcers on NBC, Chris Collingsworth and whoever, were talking about how someone really needed to sign Colin Kaepernik because he’s what they need! Whenever a QB is injured, they said, Kaepernik Should Be In The Conversation.

They should be asking exactly the opposite question but they’re still denying that football fans don’t want to listen to your politics, we want to watch fucking football.

 

Okay, this one just bothers me cuz, while I have a low opinion of NYC people in general, this is just ignorant.

Though of course bread and butter are eaten all over, the buttered roll (or roll with butter, as it is known in parts of New Jersey) is a distinctly local phenomenon. Mention its name outside the New York metropolitan area and you would very likely be met with blank incomprehension.

A Buttered. Roll.

I’ll grant you this: we didn’t have Buttered Rolls as such in Fargo. We had Rolls, with Butter. Perhaps that’s the difference. But when you went down to coffee in the basement after church, you got some rolls – often the type that split apart into three segments – and you put butter on them. Any holiday dinner, any family meal large enough to require a Relish Tray – rolls, with butter.

Yeah,  they do that in NY too, but nowhere outside NYS and the states around NYC are they laid out in the morning at every place that sells coffee.

Heaps of buttered hard rolls ready to pick up with your coffee att every place that sells coffee, except Dunkin Donuts and Krispy Kreme, they’re right next to the self-service coffee station.

I don’t see that anywhere else in the country. Most places that sell coffee don’t even have hard rolls unless they also sell sandwiches and it often takes far too long to explain that I just want a buttered fucking roll for my fucking coffee.

When I first starting traveling outside NY I used to ask all the time and people would look at me as if I was crazy, now I don’t even bother. Especially since it’s usually in the morning before I’ve had my fucking coffee. I have a low tolerance for people before I’ve had my coffee. Okay, lower tolerance.

I buy lots of french and italian bread and rolls so I make them at home but when I’m driving across the country all I want is a fucking buttered fucking roll and it’s fucking too much to fucking ask.
