The Zumbo-ing of the Harrisburg gun show

Posted: January 22, 2013 by doubleplusundead in This Is My BOOMSTICK!

If you live in PA, you know about the HUGE fucking gun shows that get put on at the Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg, except perhaps this time.  If you haven’t heard, Reed Exhibitors, a British firm, runs and manages the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show, and oddly enough, SHOT Show too.  But for whatever fucking reason, they decided to bar ARs and other politically incorrect firearms at the show, or even graphic presentations thereof (as in, no literature, no t-shirts, fucking nothing).

First, lemme say, this is what happens when you let Brits run gun or gun related companies, they ALWAYS sell out at some point, that’s what happened with Smith & Wesson when they sold out to the Clintons, they were owned by Tompkins PLC.  Limeys don’t get the gun thing, they just don’t.  Thankfully, a proper ‘Murican company bought S&W and revived it, Tomkins had to fire sale S&W for a small fraction of what they bought it for.

Anyway, bunch of companies and hunting and outdoor and shooting names and celebs are bailing on the ESOS show, Cabelas was probably the first of the big names to bail, but more and more are, and today, Ruger and Smith & Wesson have announced they’re bailing.

I will say, on the face of it, it’s most important to have the big names pull their support of ESOS, but we NEED to be aware of and support the little companies that are bailing out of the ESOS show, this is an annoyance to a Cabelas or S&W or Ruger (though certainly it costs them too, I’m NOT dismissing that), but being forced to make a decision like this is heavily damaging to a small company, many of which don’t even sell firearms.  They deserve recognition for defending the Second.

I do need to get me some Rugers, I’d love to get my hands on a 77/.357, since I’ve got a substantial pile of .38 and .357, but I need to get a GP-100 and SP-101, as well as the older Six series.  But not till after I get my fill of Colts and Smith & Wessons.  And that’s gonna take a while.

Me and the carpool buddies had been thinking of going, but nobody is interested any more.

    Good for them.
Especially since I can mention that when people act as if I’m a bad person for liking my S&Ws.
I’m a bad person for entirely unrelated reasons.

The thing is, this show is only an hour away from where we live, and we drive past the location every day on our commute. Going to this thing would barely constitute any effort on our part, and we’re still not going. Not even necessarily out of protest, just lack of interest.

    It’s pretty funny actually.
Everybody wants a scary black rifle and these fools banned the most popular one.
I hope someone sues over lost business. Get video of clerks telling person after person, ‘Sorry, no ARs’
