Many non-leftists have been noticing that lefties ‘left’ traditional religions and just replaced it with some brand of leftism.

Global warmmongering is the most obvious, but it’s the same across the leftist spectrum.

Case in point.

I often joke with people that feminism has been like a born-again religion for me – that once I found it and let it into my life, my entire perspective shifted in such a way that suddenly, everything made sense – and that I feel compelled to spread that gospel.

I often encounter people who ask me and others, though, what the point of feminism is – how it’s still relevant, why it matters….

Because feminism isn’t only present in my life when I’m filling out a ballot or waiting for my birth control prescription. Feminism has colored every single thought and action that passes through me in a day. Feminism has changed how I see myself and others. Feminism has rebooted my entire being.

She then lists a dozens of ways that feminism makes life better, ranging from hilarious to utter stupidity. I’d make fun of it but that’s probably a macro-aggression, you see, only feminists can say what’s wrong with other people, to say what’s wrong with feminists is evil, othering, psychick rape* and NOT FUNNY!!!!!!!

When I clicked that link via David Thompson, I got a pop-up that I couldn’t not click.

Everyday, videos of police violence, snippets from Trump’s speeches, and other blatant evidence of systemic racism spreads across the media and internet.

More and more white people are feeling the urge to do something about it – and that’s great!

Hey morons, what’s up with Canola?

Lately I’ve seen a lot of hating on Canola oil, particularly on paleo-friendly sites.  I gotta tell you though, I’m not convinced.  Most of the criticisms are either vague (“high heat processing”), or dripping with Monsanto hate.  Supposedly reputable mainstream websites say Canola is the cat’s pajamas, but then again, the paleo philosophy and the broader reduced carb outlook go against a lot of mainstream thinking, so I’m completely open to the idea that mainstream thought on Canola is dead wrong.

So morons, I put it to you – tell me why I shouldn’t use Canola without referring to (1) genetic modification, as I couldn’t care less, or (2) general complaints about Canola being heavily processed.  Is there some verifiable harm that comes from the processing?  If the processing changes the fatty acid profile, link me something solid.  Or is there some other essential evil in Canola?

Relatedly, if Canola is bad, what’s the alternative?  Olive oil can’t be used for all applications, and something more exotic like macadamia oil isn’t readily available.  Looking for relatively high smoke point and, decent fat profile, mild flavor, and broad availability.

Ron Brynaert hearts Lori Drew

Does anyone have any recollection of Lori Drew being SWATted?  I recall a letter writing campaign, a boycott, there was what seems to be some neighborhood harassment in the form of paintballs and bricks – but Ron Brynaert is specifically trying to vilify the Head Moron by pointing out that another blogger a commenter left Lori Drew’s address in his comments section five years ago and that Drew was supposedly SWATted as a result.  Another blogger who has her own blog, where she blogged much more extensively about Lori Drew and the suicide of Megan Meier, to the point that she was interviewed by The Age about her identification of Lori Drew.

Brynaert’s link documents nothing about Lori Drew being SWATted, and nothing about any bloggers revealing any information.  It does report a neighbor saying he’s glad the address it out there, and another neighbor saying that he wishes someone would bomb Lori Drew’s house.

So why is Brynaert going after Ace while leaving the blogger commenter who posted the address, and the neighbors who were arguably inciting violence, alone?  Ace has blogged about Brett Kimberlin, the Speedway Bombing, and the SWATtings of Erick Erickson and Patterico, while the blogger who outed Lori Drew has not.  We shouldn’t be surprised that a group who is spending their time cyberbullying has chosen Lori Drew’s cause to champion.

And in other vileness from the Brett Kimberlin crew, one of their twattlers is pushing the idea that Patterico wasn’t SWATted.  Apparently it’s not enough that several armed uniformed sheriff’s deputies were first on the scene, Patterico was just fortunate that there wasn’t time to deploy more heavily armed, potentially trigger-happy cops.

UPDATE: The blogger who blogged extensively about the Michelle Maier suicide is not the same person who posted Lori Drew’s address, on Ace’s site, and never posted Drew’s address on her own blog.  That may be a hit-and-run commenter, as the commenter’s hashtag and screen name don’t appear in ANY other comments in the minx.cc system.  Corrections above.

Lee Stranahan has offered a $1,000 reward to whoever can provide the information leading to the arrest and conviction of the coward who SWATted Erick Erickson, Mike Stack and Patterico.  Others have kicked in to bring the reward to over $8,000.

If you’re interested in committing to chipping in, you can do so at the link.  If you’re convinced the douchebag will never be caught and are a gambling man, feel free to make a commitment along the lines of a million bucks, of course.  You’ll look really good and may never have to pay up.

In case you’re wondering what this has to do with any of us, keep in mind that these twatwaffles have announced that they’re interested in revealing the identity of our Head Moron, just as they did to Aaron Worthing.   Any of us who have delighted in the ability to blog without, well, getting SWATted, may consider this a personal attack.

One or two of our three readers may have been pretending to read our crapblog long enough to remember Vinty, one of our cobloggers, he posted much more frequently on the old mee.nu blarg.  Anyway, Vinty’s mother is currently battling a rare and nasty form of cancer, she is currently undergoing treatment.  Vinty asked me to put up a post asking for your thoughts and prayers for his mother, needless to say I immediately started writing the post.

It shouldn’t.

With Kudlow off tonight, I decided to check out Erin Burnett’s show on CNN.  Among the topics discussed was an estimate of what a US war with Iran might cost us.  It ranged from a reasonably small number of billions corresponding to a Libyan analog, and a trillion dollar Iraq-style invasion.  The emphasis of discussion seemed to steer away from the lower estimate.

Not sure why though.  Our desire for Iranian regime change should be a lot less ambiguous than our desire to see the same in Libya.  Sure, Gaddafi was a murderous dictator, but he was a stable, self-interested dictator who saw fit to ditch some of his nasty weapons when he understood that Dubya was serious about draining the swamp.  What might Gaddafi be replaced with?  Al Qaeda types, perhaps.  At the very least some folks who aren’t exactly going to plant a Jeffersonian democracy in north Africa.

With Iran, however, the equation is a little easier.  Who might take over if we toppled the Mullahs?  Who cares?  The current regime is quite literally an apocalyptic cult that is trying to build a nuclear weapon, is a sponsor of international terrorism, and has been in an undeclared state of war with the United States since its inception.  Does it get any worse than that?

What if religious fanatics got their hands on the nucl… oh wait.  That’s what we have now.

Also the “Pottery Barn” rule doesn’t apply here.  No “break it, you bought it”, stuff — Iran is already broken.

Iran is a much better candidate for Obama’s Libyan policy than Libya was.

Destroy their nuclear facilities. Take down the government. See what emerges.  Rinse and repeat as necessary.
